I'm getting more and more excited about RubyFringe as the day draws nearer. I'm surprised there hasn't been more buzz about it in the blogs I read, because the speaker lineup looks incredible. I would think that RubyFringe should be getting even more press now that RailsConf has been a bit of a bust, two years in a row. Similarly, I was pretty disappointed with RailsConf Europe 2007 and won't be going there this year*. I'm glad for community-organized conferences, because that's what will keep Ruby going now that Rails seems to be jumping the shark.
*Okay, truth be told, there is still a chance I would go to RailsConf Europe: I could make my trip to a friend's wedding in Poland tax deductible. :-P
